I find this rather sad honestly. For the past several years I've heard great things about OPIE from friends who were into Linux portables. I wasn't really into portables at that time though. Now, I'm involved in a project to hack smartphone features onto Motorola linux based feature phones, I find it quite alarming that the project might be dying. Qtopia/OPIE has the largest base of applications for portables. It would be quite a waste to see all that down the drain.
