Hi,
Opie has no support for touchscreen controlers at all. We rely on
tslib to get coordinates from the kernel.
The Linux Kernel provides a Input System and tslib will read /dev/ 
input/eventX,
/dev/ts or whatever plugin you load.

If your ADS7846 driver is a InputDriver Opie will be able to use it.
