Have you set these variables?

export QWS_MOUSE_PROTO='TPanel'
export TSLIB_TSDEVICE='/dev/input/event0'  <-- set this to you device
export TSLIB_CALIBFILE='/etc/pointercal'       <-- this is the default
export TSLIB_CONFFILE='/etc/ts.conf'            <-- set this to your path
export TSLIB_PLUGINDIR='/usr/lib/ts'             <-- set this to your path
