I had so much trouble with Opie a couple years ago that I had to go back to my Palm in order to actually do the tasks I needed to do. My Palm is now dying, and I am trying to get Opie working on my iPaq 3970 again. I have Opie 1.2.1, but am having some of the same problems as I did two years ago. Among other problems (which I will write to this list later), Opie will not always let me write text files. I noticed the problem when trying to install a Chinese font and wanted to edit two files: /home/root/Settings/locale.conf /opt/QtPalmtop/lib/fonts/fontdir When I try to save changes made to either of those files, I receive a Text Editor error box saying "Write Failed." Actually, if I open Text Editor first and then open the file and try to write, then I receive "Save Failed." Two different error messages. Why can I not save files? I am the root user editing the root user settings. I just took another look, and found out I cannot save anything with Text Editor. Even if I create a new file and save to my documents folder, I still receive the error message. And possibly related, I also cannot copy either of those files (listed above) to my documents folder. If I try that, I receive an AdvancedFm error box saying "Could not copy" the file names. Has anybody else had these problems? I assume so, because I had similar trouble two years ago with an older version of Opie. _______________________________________________ Open Source User Interface and Apps built on Qt Embedded Opie mailing list [email protected] https://handhelds.org/mailman/listinfo/opie
