I also tried using opiemail2 for mailing, and digged about two days 
about these problems.
I forgot how I solved the "Error initializing folder" ( I use IMAP so I 
don't care ), but I was unable to get SMTP to work properly with 
Authentication. My Error was "Mailbox unavailable".
Second problem was, that I was unable to switch SSL _off_ to debug the 
connection.
I kinda worked around this by installing masqmail as a small Mailserver 
on my iPAQ, as it seems like local delivery without AUTH works.
