What I mainly got was the ability to open an ssh tunnel to connect to my mail 
server and read mail. So multitasking basically. Yes, I can sync wto KDEPIM 
with the stable version of the opensync framework. For some reason though 
qcop transfers garbage in a lot of cases, so I hacked the sync code to 
hardcode some parameters instead of fetching them via qcop(if I disable qcop 
entirely the sync doesn't copy anything from KDE to the PDA, only vice versa)

The other problem is that the sync apparently has a codepage problem. German 
umlauts aren't handled properly. That's quite an issue for me as a native 
Austrian, currently I avoid using umlauts.

Everything's running pretty slowly, but the PIM apps are fluent. Games not so 
much, but most of them don't work on my device anyway because one button of 
the 4 way NAV is broken(I could try to remap it to some other button though). 
The three major issues I have left are the handwriting input, sound and 
battery runtime(standby mostly, the time I can use the device in the active 
state is comparable to PalmOS).

Bottom line: If you just want to productively use your device, either stick to 
PalmOS or buy something new. If you like hacking, or you want to invest time 
instead of some money installing Linux on the PalmTE is an interesting thing 
to try.
