Palm E2 'Sqweeling' - Help!

So I've been reading the posts about all who are frustratd about loosing thier Palms & DateBook etc. as I'm in the same boat . . . but now my Tungston E2 is having 'issues'. Last week, I was having response & memory problems, so I removed a big program and that fixed it - I just bought a momory card for it. Today the battery is no longer holding a charge. And I noticed a few weeks ago (same time that the battery was not lasting more than a day or two) that it has a high-pitched sqweel when I turn it on - very annoying. So, is my E2 failing??? Or should I buy a battery??? Thanks in advacne for the help!!!
