Vibrate alarms repeat, audio ones don't

Hi all, Using the latest Datebk6 (to go with Pimilical so I can get my GCals on my Palm) and if I switch my Palm to vibrate mode and have alarms go off, they work as I always have experienced in the past - the phone vibrates three times, then stops, then vibrates three times and stops and does the same for the third time. If I ignore the buzzing, it repeats after five minutes. If, however, I turn on the speaker I get one play of the alarm sound, then no more. I have a Treo 680 running Launcher X and a bunch of other stuff.
