One thing about those concerned about syncing through Google, if you are 
using Pimlical Desktop your data is robustly backed up [to backup 
everything it must be initiated manually, but the calendar is 
auto-backup] on your own computer so you don't have to be concerned 
about LOSING data to the cloud, only whatever privacy concerns you have.
