HP has a small Windows 7 tablet, the Slate 500, that it is selling to the SMB market. It costs $800. I have not gotten to try this device, but it looks interesting. You might look at that. Say what you want about Windows, in the end everything runs on it, while the Android and iOS solutions are much more limited in general functionality.

The other choice of course is the iPod Touch, a nice machine IF it provides the functionality you want. I presume that you have already looked at that.

auto-backup] on your own computer so you don't have to be concerned 
about LOSING data to the cloud, only whatever privacy concerns you have.
