I had a similar problem with a Palm Pilot Professional. It turned out that the ribbon cable that connects the face to the inside of the Palm would come slightly loose sometimes. When it would stop responding, I'd open up the back (there were tiny screws hidden under a sticker), and use my fingers to push the ribbon cable back in place. There might be a way to fix it permanently, but I just opened mine up every few weeks. I think this has been an issue for many Palm models, so it might be worth a try, if you were going to toss it anyway. Good luck. Sara
