Things became easier in Palm OS 5 as the ability to use custom fonts

I *never* add books to my PDA via Hotsync. My eBooks all live on the
SD card. Adding books is a matter of popping the card out of the TX,
putting it into a USB card reader, and dropping the files from Windows
directly into the directory on the card where the viewer app wants to
see them.
For Plucker documents, that's Palm/programs/plucker. For Mobi files,
it's /Palm/launcher. (The docs claim they can also go elsewhere, but
are not seen by the Palm viewer anywhere save Palm/launcher.) For
Ereader files, it's Palm/books. For PDFs it's /PDFs, since the PDF
viewer I use can navigate the SD card file systems and read them from
any location.
Once the books are on the card, and update library operation in the
respective viewer makes them visible.
I'm the one who posted the link the the Aceeca driver. Note that you
can also theoretically Hotsync via Bluetooth or over a network via
Wifi, so you don't need a direct cable connection to the host PC.
Have you ever looked at doing that? (I've used Wifi in the past, but
not Bluetooth, since the machine I sync with doesn't have it.)
