HS has to read your mind to know when you're done with a search and want to start a new one. The way it does that is by noticing when you check off (or uncheck) an item in the filtered list. I just tried on a device with a keyboard with the SIP hidden, and checking off an item causes subsequent text to replace the search box contents rather than append. I can't reproduce the problem you described. Can you give a detailed step by step how-to?
