PDesk wont sync on my laptop

I just installed Beta 7 of Pdesk on my (new to me!) laptop. Everything
has been working on my desktop (Windows XP).
Symptoms: When Hotsync runs the PDesk conduit does not run (verified
in log file). If Pdesk is open when I sync it puts up a message that
it is syncing, but conduit never runs. Pdesk conduit is listed under
Custom view of Hotsync, seems to be installed.
Versions:
Windows 2000
Hotsync version 4.1.0
PDesk Beta-7 (reinstalled to be sure)
Project 0.29
Handera 330 OS 3.5.3
Any ideas on how to make this work?
