Can you force an overwrite from desktop to Palm?

Hi, I am a new user and new member of this group. I had a problem with
syncing (extra copies of several entries appeared). Anyway, I
apparantly did something wrong and now I have two completely different
files. I want to take the version from the desktop an overwrite
whatever is on the palm. Can I do that? There doesn't seem to be a way
in the HotSync manager.
Alternatively, can I create a new file in PDesk and have it load onto
the palm? So far I have only been able to sync files actually created
on the Palm.
