What about doing as I said though -- ie: If we 'hide' (remove, whatever) the Shadow directory entirely so it can't find anything, does the desktop run? (And if so we can redstore files until we find the culprit.) If not, then there is something messed up in Windows (ie: a DLL gone bad or somesuch) which we might be able to track down. Aside .. let us hope Palm's Nova saves them. With all the suffering we've been through in the "Palm Economy" the last 5+ years, I'd still support a Palm device over the others.
