I believe this is documented somewhere but I'm not sure where.
I will make sure it is and if not add it.
Mostly they mean what the characters naturally imply:
' = skipped (many possible reasons)
" = already read (i.e. MID stored in History file earlier and was found
again later)
- = totally invalid request (should never happen; coding error, probably)
! = no longer (i.e. NOT) on server
* = unexpected session-killing severe error
c = MIME but no text portion (never personally seen this)
k = killfile/spam-kill)
m = low memory
t = recoverable timeout (polling will continue)
T = unrecoverable timeout (polling cannot continue)
