I'm not sure PP falls in the Adware category since it doesn't cause any
popups and IIRC doesn't cause do anything unless you ask it to. This whole
subject of Pocket Purchase is sore with a lot of folks - I long ago
unsubscribed to the WordSmith group because it just turned into a formum
that argued about Pocket Purchase. Having used it with Blue Nomad, I find it
works the way it's supposed to and otherwise drew no attention to itself. I
understand folks' concern, but I think too much is being made about THIS
particular program.

PalmGear and Handango also charge developers for distributing their
software, and from what I understand, the percentage can be significant. I
doubt Gregg is making a fortune from New Yanoff and I can understand him not
wanting to lose a significant percentage of his profits to a distributor.

This is again common practice. The only Palm program that I own that I can
think of that offers free updates forever is ShadowPlan, and I suspect one
day Jeff will come to his senses and change that.

Most developers offer point releases (3.0 to 3.1 to 3.2, etc.) for free and
a discount price (normally about 50%) from one release to another (3.0 to
4.0). This is fair and keeps the developer from going broke and out of
business.
