Not really.  Gmane is a server based tool that gathers bulks of messages for
many users to access groups.  What I'm asking for is very much on the same line
as Yanoff does for usenet and RSS, which is for a single user to get access to
news he wants to follow.  In other words, I want yanoff to log into MY yahoo
group, download news messages, and make available TO ME for offline reading. 
Very different from gmane.
