Yes, it is forward compatible but not backward: GPL Yanoff's articles/artdb
are fully understood by New Yanoff but any articles added by New Yanoff will
not be properly understood (bodies will be unreachable) by GPL Yanoff.  Like
I said, I'll be getting with Matthias to update GPL Yanoff as soon as I get
2.1 out (I just know there are going to be a few bugs to fix)...

No, nothing that is updated (written to) can be on the SD card.  However..

There's no reason you cannot run yanoff.prc from the SD card and also
NewsServers.pdb (unless you are modifying it) but anything that gets updated
(i.e. all other files) will not work.
