Hi,

I tried of firstly the Yanoff+ and then, when I didn't find anything
there that I really needed the Yanoff- version. When I found out that
the down button doesn't work in the "-" version, I went back to the GPL
version (where it works).

I've been thinking a bit about this and I'm really quite disappointed
about this. Some may see this as overly negative and maybe a bit
ungrateful for all the work Gregg has done, but I simply want to spark
of an discussion that can, hopefully, inspire Gregg (or other people) to
make a Yanoff that's a killer newsreader.

The new version seems to have an impressive list of new features, but
when I look through the list
<http://www.palmyanoff.com/faq.htm#featdiff>, none of it actually
changes the way I read my news on the Palm. Most the features are
housekeeping functionality, that doesn't really add much to the main
thing - reading mail. Maybe it's just me, but I can't envision any of
those functions being something that you would pay for. When I look
through the list, most of my comments for most of the items is something
like "nice, but when am I going to actually *need* it". The only thing
that, I've actually needed in the past is rot13.

My wish list:

* T3 screen support
* Colour coding of text - make it easier to see if a text is a quote or
new text
* Functionality to trim (excessive) quoting (like describes earlier on
this list). Makes it easier to find the actually "meat". Saves memory.
* A kill thread/subject functionality (easy/fast way of marking whole
thread read or simply delete the thread). Maybe that's hidden somewhere
in the programmable buttons, and I just cant find it. See next item...
* The programmable buttons seems like a good idea, but it would have
been a lot cooler if it was scriptable. Nothing complicated, just a list
of drop downs giving me the option of something like [if
end_of_article][mark_current_read][next_article][goto_first_non_quote_line][beep][elseif][scroll_down_page][endif]

All of they "nice" and not "need" but then again the GPL version works,
so you can say that about nearly anything that goes beyond that version.
But any of first four items on my wish list would be something that
would make me want to trade in the GPL version for a + version and I
cant say that for anything on the current feature list.
