There are several ways to perform a Poll to update the newsgroups list
in Yanoff. The setups are divided between polling directly from the
PDA or through the conduit during a hotsync.

If you have wireless on your PDA, you can connect to the 'net directly
from the PDA.

If you have bluetooth on your PDA, you can either make the connection
through a bt-compatible device, either a bt phone or a bt device on
the desktop.

If you have a PDA modem, then you can connect that way, similar to
wireless in many respects.

However based on your question, it appears you do not have any of the
above configurations. So you must "mimic" that setup with MochaPPP
(mainly for pre-XP environments) or set up Remote Access through XP.
There are posts elsewhere that detail how to do these
configurations, but since I haven't done it, I won't go into that.

The other option for polling which I used heavily before getting a BT
device is through a conduit sync. This is not software that New
Yanoff distributes, but rather it is gpl based (no cost), and NY still
works cooperatively with it. The downside is that it has been a pain
for some to install, although I have never had issues even on several
different computers that I installed it on. The key is getting the
Java code working first before installing the conduit. You can find
the software at http://www.vanbest.org/janpascal/yanoff/ Try that
first and then post back your results.
