Easy communication, and high signal-to-noise ratios.

No need - Reply to All is plenty easy, and almost always acceptable. 
This also guarantees that "digest" subscribers get their replies 
separately, rather than possibly missing them inside a digest.

This also reduces "accidentally posted to the list" issues, keeping the 
signal ratio high.
