theKompany has an H323 based phone app (tkcPhone) available.  I dont know
about video conferencing.

IMHO, Sharp has been pretty remiss on updating the OS.  They are seeing
these units as one-offs, like cameras, not as platforms for software
distribution.

Check into openzaurus.  There's strong development going on there, and
constant software updates.  http://www.openzaurus.org/
