Much better information content.

Sorry I don't do WinXP.  Have you turned off the firewalling features 
of WinXP?  (I can't tell you how to do it - just that it has been 
reported before.)

You might also try another proxy like this one:
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/proxy.htm
It doesn't say anything about supporting IMAP (boo!) but see if POP3 
works for you.
