Have you tried Analog X's proxy?  I had similar problems not with a Z,
but with some computers sharing an Internet connection through a gateway
in a SOHO situation.  

Everything BUT email worked.  After searching around a bit, I found
AnalogX's site (http://www.analogx.com).  His proxy didn't initially
support email proxying but has since (with buffer overruns and other
POP3 SMTP bugs fixed).  It worked in my situation, it might also in
yours.

I hope it works for you.  While the software is free, it is pretty good
while remaining small and simple to use.  If you run into problems,
detailed errors/behaviors could probably be sent to AnalogX for him to
fix in future versions (don't EXPECT support, though... he does this as
a hobby).
