ROM 3.1 and systemtime problem

I rather foolishly installed Opie's systemtime over top of the 3.10 ROM's.
  Now, dates set either in Opei's systemtime or directly via date isn't
  saved to hardware, and the clock gets "reset" (i.e. goes back to what
  the hardware clock says (somewhere in Feb, 2003)).
Any ideas?

And Sharp, if you're listening, I use exclusively Linux and would have a
  very simple solution--back up application data and reinstall--except that
  I cannot sync to my Linux desktop!  I can only back up the entire state
  of the Z!  This is *extremely* disappointing!  Please give us Linux and
  Mac Sync support!!  Sure, you may have a lot of Windows users, but if
  you foster the Linux Zaurus community, you will have loyal advocates.

It's gonna get reverse-engineered one way or the other.  If you don't at
  least release the specs, you're going to look like a jerk.  If you *do*
  you save developers time, look good in the eyes of the developer
  community, and don't even have to code it yourself.
If you put up code to enable us to sync as well as the Windows users, you'll
  be a hero!

You may have mostly Windows users, but your Linux users will be *extremely*
  loyal advocates--*if* you treat them well.
