SL5500 : Dlink 660W Problem Powers Off

Greetings:

I have the above hardware running on a 3.1 ROM.  The 660W activity
light generally stays off (about 1 sec solid green when inserted). 
The big problem is, at home, I can connect (manually) to an Orinoco
AP but the card drops offline (solid green light goes out) after
about 90 seconds.  This did not happen before the 3.1 upgrade.  At
work, using Kismet, this same dropoff (light goes OUT) occurs.  I'm
wondering if the 660W is bad?
Thoughts?
