They're not flashing because they want to keep the Japanese handwriting
recognition, I would guess. I have heard that you can flash the B500 to an
English OS (Sharp's 5600 or the Proto ROM or . . .

procedure and files, but you have to edit some of the lines in some of the
configuration files. Maybe someone here can tell you the specifics.
