I had a similar layout on my Kinesis:

My focus in creating this keyboard was not really
on the layout.  I was mainly concerned with using
the best switches I could find.

I'm not up to speed on it yet.

The eventual top speed may be lower than on my
Kinesis - due to some anti-touch typing features.

However, I expect the probability of suffering
from cumulative trauma disorders will be much
lower.
