1) RTAI version 24.1.10 is quite an old version (Sept. 2002)
I'd suggest to use a more recent one (see e.g. 
http://www.aero.polimi.it/RTAI/)

2) excerpt from the RTAI documentation 'Readme.install':

  [...]

  1. Download the Linux kernel source for a supported kernel.  The
     best choice is usually the latest kernel for which there is an
     ADEOS/RTHAL patch in the patches/ directory.

  [...]

In other words you need an unmodified linux kernel (see e.g. 
www.kernel.org). Kernels provided by vendors such as RedHat or 
SUSE will most likely cause problems.
