lircmd on raspberry pi running jessie

I have LIRC running ok with MythTV and would like to add mouse emulation so I
can do a few simple things in a browser or the desktop without having to
grab a mouse.  I haven't found much detail on installing lircmd on the pi
and all my attempts to follow what I have found have failed.  Is there a
detailed guide available or where do I start to resolve this?
