On Sending hw -> Girs Client, after opening, select the "Use receive for 
capture" checkbox.

Alternatively, you can compile the firmware without CAPTURE.

A Photo diode is "dumb", but I do not think that for example TSMP58000 
http://www.vishay.com/docs/82485/tsmp58000.pdf really qualifies as 
"dumb". Anyhow, it may be a good idea, but not needed for the Yamaha 
signals.
