12 V for home-brew IR receiver

Hello. I have a home-brew IR receiver as described on https://lirc.org/receivers.html I've read, that supply voltage range 8 V .. 10 V is ok for this circuit. Is it ok for the voltage regulator to be supplied by 12 V or is it too much? I don't want to damage the IR receiver.
