The largest disadvantage (that I'm aware of is that you need a head of
water BELOW the point you are pumping from.
This can be achieved by sinking a pipe to below the aquifer inlet point.
Efficiencies are usually around 35% - while this is significantly below
that of conventional pumps it still may be viable.
