I don't have any suggestions. But I really do miss the "Microchip style"
EEPROM/flash that is absent in most other styles of microcontroller. I
thought they used to be ~$0.25 cent parts in high volume (now ~$0.70). I
suppose it's the price of longevity (and tariffs? and automotive
certification?).
