Curiosity got the better of me (nerd sniped). Microchip's parametric search
by price gives the PIC16F15214 (
https://www.microchip.com/en-us/product/PIC16F15214). 8 pins instead of 6.
$0.37 @ qty 100.

sidenote: sometimes I wish the LLVM compiler supported PICs, AVRs, etc.
