Ok, Ok, a guys gotta try, us corporate engineers gotta eat too.
(although typically our lead times aren't as long)

Many of the ports are supported by the Java Dataport/BitPort class's and can
be accessed at a high level.
This is terribly slow, it takes several miliseconds to move a pin this way,
but if your just doing character LCD's this is probably fine since most of
those things are horrible slow themselves. The one I'm using has a 100ms
initialization time.

Your other free option(if you don't have a cross compiler) is write a native
library which does all the hardware work in assembly and is callable from
the java layer.
This is a little non-intuitive, but really isn't all that much work, and
will give you MUCH faster IO accesses.
See the Native library example for a good example of how to do this.
If you go this route don't be afraid to ask questions, I've got a lotta
tips.

Thank you guys.
but the problem here is I'm doing my final year
project and I may not have enough time to purchase the
part and wait for another 1 or 2 weeks to get it. So
directly interfacing it onto the TINI socket is my
first option if it's possible.
