I'm assuming you mean mcf5485?   There is no mcf5285.
http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/overview.jsp?nodeId=0127260061033202A9 is the link to the Freescale LTIB (Linux Target Image Builder) BSP that has complete development environment that is tested too.  Not sure which GCC build it has though.
Also if you are looking for most current GNU tools chain CodeSourcery.com is the place to get it.  Freescale funds them to maintain and fix bugs for the ColdFire family.

I recently downloaded the toolchain for Coldfire from uclinux website. Its  
gcc tells me its version 4.1.1 - but hellas - gnu does not provide a  
documentation for this version. Available are 4.1.0 and 4.1.2. My problem:  
Which option do I have to specify for the MCF5285 processor? Is it -m5200?  
The documentation is not very conclusive.....

The manufacturer of the COBRA5285-Board I am using provided examples. One  
of them uses the option -m5307 which is however nowhere documented.
