Allan, Thansk a lot for your info. I am using an IC chip which has a SPI port. But, my host computer is only equipped with a RS232 port. I need the converter to communicate the host with the chip. RS232 is async (fixed baud, no clock pin) and is normally used with SCI. SPI is synchronus and requires a clock pin and is not normally used on RS232. The RS232 converter basically changes the signal voltage for transmission over greater distance. SPI is often used at higher frequencies over shorter distances i.e. across the PCB, often without buffers. I don't know if you'll find such a converter and I don't quite understand why you would need such a thing.
