the revision of the part has nothing to do with the revision of the evaluation board.
 
the mask set is generally marked on the top of the device, but this must be decoded into the simple version of the device. the most accurate way is to read the IMMR register and the device will tell you which revision it is in the MASKNUM field.
 
See AN2000. there is a complete list of the mask set revisions and versions in table 21. You can also look at the MPC555 Reference manual.
 
revision G parts have not been made since about 1998. unless you have a really old board, then you probably have either a revision K2, K3 or M - which all use the same flash programming driver. revisions G and K used an older programming algorithm and is not compatible with later revisions of the device.
