As Dr. Perreault pointed out, mask is basically a revision. K85H was the
first revision of the MPC565, also referred to as revision 0a. It was
not released to production manufacture, but was used for prototyping by
many customers.
 
Production mask sets of the MPC565 are 2K16Y (revision C) and the L99N
(revision D).

	you do a layout change, you create a new mask. The number of the
mask 
	that is used to create the part is stamped on the top of the
part. Hence 
	you can track changes to the chip by the mask number. In
