The MPC5500 Family is support by a large number of tool vendors.
 
Green Hills has both a C compiler and a debugger. http://www.ghs.com
P&E Micro support the GNU compiler with an IDE and have a debugger -
this is the most inexpensive solution. http://www.pemicro.com
Lauterbach has a debugger. http://www.lauterbach.com
iSystems has a debugger. http://www.isystem.com/
Ashling MicroSystems has a debugger. http:www.ashling.com
Wind River has a compiler solution and is working on a debugger
solution. http:www.windriver.com
Macraigor Systems has a debug interface. http://www.macraigor.com
 
Most of the debugger companies have both full trace capable tools and
simple run control only solutions.
