COP is the debug interface used on some of the stand-alone PowerPC devices (MPC750, the G2 cores, etc.). The MPC5500 devices support OnCE, which is a JTAG variant. The MPC500 devices use either BDM (which is not JTAG and is completely different than JTAG) or a Nexus Auxiliary Input and Output Port. i.e. the MPC500 does not support any flavor of JTAG for debug (not even via Nexus). Nexus uses BDM packetized into Nexus input messages. I think the usb2sprite interface is set up primarily for JTAG. Macraigor could make a BDM one, but I don't think they have. I also believe that CodeWarrior for the MPC500 doesn't support any of the USB interfaces from Macraigor. The Macraigor (unsupported) GDB may support the usb2sptrite, but you need to check with Macraigor. It does support (some-what) the MPC5500 devices. randy ________________________________ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Monday, November 13, 2006 3:10 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [MPC500] Macraigor USB2Sprite debugger Hi, Has anyone here used the Macraigor "usb2Sprite" debugger with any of the MPC500 boards? It's relatively inexpensive ($225) and is supposed to compatible with Codewarrior and GNU tools (see datasheet here: http://www.macraigor.com/downloads/usb2Sprite.pdf <http://www.macraigor.com/downloads/usb2Sprite.pdf> ). On one of the Macraigor pages it says that "Freescale PPC COP" is supported (http://www.macraigor.com/usb2sprite.htm <http://www.macraigor.com/usb2sprite.htm> ). I'm not sure what is meant by "COP". If anyone can enlighten me, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!
