Good. That's even better than external. Though I'm afraid of temperature.
Adding a HD will make things worse I'm afraid. Is it your current setup ?

That was my first intention. But as you mention it will take quite long.
As it is a server, I would like to reduce the downtime as much as
possible.
the MBR also needs to be reconstructed on the new disk before booting
it... maybe I will try a tool such as partition magic, although I had bad
experiences with such programs. Anyway the source disk will remain
intact....

I'll double-check if they are already compiled. in order not to have
problems at boot time, I'll probably build them in the kernel, not as
modules (no initrd in such case).
