All done.  The HD100 is now running at a fixed IP address.
I modified my telnet VB APP so it now will either do a true TCPip telnet, or 
connect to the HD1000 serial port and act as the bash client.  If anyone wants 
the program let me know. I can supply the object code.  It uses a active/X 
telnet control which is expensive but only needed if you use the source.
