I don't have a DHCP server that displays the "name", however my OpenBSD
box (obviously not linux) has a file in /etc/ called myname.  In it is
it's FQDM.  You may try that...

I disagree. These suggestions might help my Windows client think that
the 
roku at the given IP address has the given name. However, neither of
them 
actually change the name reported by the machine's uname command. For 
that, I am certain that things need changed on the HD1000. If allowed to

grab an IP address via DHCP, it tells the DHCP server that it's name is 
(none).
