The circuitry that does the motion detection is analog in nature, and 
therefore I can't give a percentage answer. However, we worked on the 
thresholds of the saver so that it is not extremely sensitive, so my 
guess is that a small timer on the screen will probably be detected 
as no motion. It somewhat depends on the variations in the Y part of 
the signal, as that is the only signal we look at. I would say that 
you would just have to try it and see if it works in your particular 
case. 

I am going to ask Dan at Roku to answer the 2nd half of your 
question.
