They are testing in their "lab", the LCD using the old Pioneer DVD player. To be fair to them, they are now in the process of getting another DVD player to use. The confusion factor is the fact that the Pioneer works with a Panasonic plasma; but not withe the LCDs. The reason I went looking for a spec is that anticpating the outcome of what is happening led me to conclude that I better be on good ground when and if I am forced to handle the issue from a different perspective. (contractural). I find it really amazing that there does not seem to be an "authority" for one of today's most used video interface. The voltage levals are pretty much ubiquitous. The Y channel carries all luminance and sync information and should be virtually identical to a standard composite output (in 480i mode at-least). You may have a situation where the output parameters in the older player has drifted out of spec over a period of time. One monitor may be less sensitive to the out of spec condition than the other. Such a problem is normally a frequency or sync drift rather than a voltage issue. Anything's possible, though, and this is all purely speculation on my part. Personally I'd recommend the customer dump the older DVD player in lieu of a newer unit that works with the display. DVD players (even good ones) are throw away cheap these days anyhow. Does the LCD have a composite in ??
