Re: Overkill? Distributed Power Amps..

sort of taking this topic one step farther...

Im in the process of gutting my 100 year old house and I have cat5e,
coax and stereo speakers into every room. My hope is to use the coax to
run digital audio from local room sources to the central 'rack', then
have a multi module amp powering the speakers to every room with some
sort of audio multiplexer to control which room gets which signal (there
appear to be lots of X-10 and infrared solutions for the MUX). This
obviously leads to lots of DAC's and some sort of modular (6 rooms = 12
channel) stereo amp. While I have only done very light research on this
equipment on the web, I was wondering if anyone else had this scenario
or another and any stories or recommendations to go along with it on how
to deal with the multiple DACS and modular amp.
